Black and White Card with Yellow Flowers

I love trying new color combinations. And I was bored with the usual reds, pinks, etc. so I started out with a black card base. That set the ball rolling.... Then I used Black and White PPs to create the bg. I wanted to have a sentiment as the focus for my card. This sentiment is from the stamp set TPC Playful expressions.

I made the flowers using this rose flower template from the net. I traced and cut out these flowers on white handmade paper. Then I colored them using Wild Honey Distress Inks. The light and dark grey leaves are cut out from an ad pamphlet. I colored the seam binding ribbon with the same ink to match the flowers.

Here's a look at my card....

I love the contrast of B/W with yellow and also the way these cute flowers look!!

Mixed Media Project

Hey Friends!! You all have tempted me enough to try out a mixed media project. So here it is!! My first try at MM. Though I had very limited supplies as compared to what I have seen my crafter friends use in their projects, I still wanted to give this project a try. I tried out the layout with whatever stuff I had at hand, just to see how I fare in mixed media.

I am not going to say on how this turned out to be. I need your honest comments and feedback. Do let me know so that I can improve further on this.

I was inspired by Riti Poddar's video tutorial for Crafter's Corner blog and I had wanted to try it out ever since. I must say she is a pro at it and she made it look so interesting that I couldn't help trying it out myself.

I have used various mix of things for my project. The base is a 8x8 mdf that came as a cake base. The flowers are handmade and distressed using Wild Honey and Evergreen Bough distress inks. I used white lace and colored it with distress inks. The wooden button, heart charm, Love alphabet stickers are from my stash. I have also used some mdf penants and birdies which again I have colored to match my project. I had purchased some inks from a local shop and they came handy to color the mdf frame, and other stuff like penants, sequins, etc. As inspired by Riti's tutorial I built up the bg using some mixed PP scraps, washi tapes and stamping. I used mod podge generously to stick the papers for bg. Then I applied a coat of silver acrylic paint to add a sheen to my project.

I will be waiting for your feedback, friends!! Do let me know what you feel about this. I will be more than happy to incorporate your suggestions.

Happy Janmashtami!!

Shopping online at Jabong.com

Ask me how happy I was to shop for free at the convenience of my home, for anything I wanted!! Yeah, isn't it a dream come true for us girls.

Let me give you a brief about what happened. Few days back, I received an email from Jabong.com and they offered me a free gift voucher. I was entralled and jumped at the offer. I had so many choices to pick up from. Though they stock everything from apparel, footwear, accessories to furniture, my favorite section was the home section. There was so much to choose from. I was literally confused as to what I should go for. Rakhi was around the corner and they had some very special packages for rakhi as well.

I decided to go for some cushion covers for my set of five 12x12" cushions.  And there again, I admit, I was totally amazed at the options available, at very reasonable prices, and I seemed to like [read: Love] them all. But then I settled for these lovely designer peacock ones: Dancing Peacock Cushion Covers (Set Of 5). I would strongly recommend all my friends to check it out for themselves.

I received the parcel within 2 days and I was kept well informed about the dispatch information through smses.  The parcel was very well packaged and I got the product in very good condition.

What I liked most about Jabong is:
1.  Prompt service
2. Range of products
3. Exciting offers/deals

I have never seen so many options in a single category at any mall/store. A big thumbs up to Jabong!! Happy Shopping.

Posting some pics of my living room; with the new cushion covers adding some extra charm to my room.

Joy Fold Birthday Card

Hi Friends! Today I have a Birthday card to share which I made for my brother. It is a joy fold card and I am thinking why didn't I try out this amazing fold earlier. It has so much room to decorate and play with. I really enjoyed making this card.

I decorated the card keeping in mind some of the challenges. I twisted a paper clip to form a tiny heart embellishment. The transparent glittered butterflies are made out of acetate. I used acetate from packaging material to make these butterflies. There's also a small one I used to hold the front flap of the card.  For the top, I made a paper pinwheel and used toothpick (wooden) to form its pole.

Thank You Monochromatic Card

Hi everyone!! It feels good to post after one full month. I was MIA due to some issues on the home front. I still won't be very regular with my posts, but I couldn't resist making one card this month.
I wanted to play along the lovely challenges running this month but managed to join only a few. I picked up Deepti's Card to play along her challenge.  She is a lovely crafter who has attained great feats in a short span of time and managed to make a mark in the blog world. Kudos to you girl!!

I have cut strips of pattern paper and adhered for the bg. Added a flourish, layered some prima flowers and a paper rose flower. The sentiment stamp is from Micia.
